| Sample Hiring Criteria of a Company - An Interviewer's
Notes
Although the following list of an interviewer's notes and analyses
pertains to a sales position, the general criteria are useful guidelines
for the Interviewee.
- Education: University degree achieved
- Appearance: Well groomed. Presents professional image.
- Knowledge: of Industry and its products. How did they get data?
- Organization/Planning: Setting goals and determining priorities.
Time/Territory Management Skills.
- Communication Skills: Oral skills during interview. Can candidate
present in oral/written form a subject he/she knows well? Listening
skills and nonverbal sensitivity.
- Sense Of Urgency: Does candidate demonstrate initiative, decision
making, enthusiasm and time consciousness (meeting deadlines) during
tasks?
- Need To Win: How competitive and to what extent is candidate
motivated to achieve results? How has he/she performed to quota
in promoted products and total sales?
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to get along with peer groups and
superiors. Team consciousness. Gains understanding and cooperation
from others.
- Maturity: How realistic a view does candidate have of her/his
strengths/weaknesses? How readily can candidate modify his/her behavior
to reach a goal? How does candidate handle rejection?
- Problem Solving: Can candidate analyze situations and data. Looks
at alternatives and new ways (risk taking) to seize upon opportunities.
Uses sound judgment in arriving at final decision.
- Creativity/Innovation: Ability to develop methods to improve results.
- Selling Skills: Via role play, candidate should demonstrate basic
selling skills:
- opening/closing
- features/benefits
- probing
- handling objectives
